Sunday 14th May

Bollington

A walk of about 7.5 miles from Bollington that, with some climbing (not too strenuous), will take us up on to the rugged Bakestonedale Moor where we will be rewarded with panoramic views.  After skirting round Moorside Quarry we will descend to Moorside Road. It's downhill or level as we follow the North Cheshire Way west and south through gentle farmland, wooded areas and the canal towpath.  Then we will turn off to Styperson Pool where we will follow the path uphill to reach Long Lane which will lead us back to Bollington.

Sunday 28th May

  10.00am   Cat and Fiddle to Macclesfield

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park at 10:00am. We will then walk the short distance to Macclesfield Bus Station and catch the 10:30am Buxton bus (No 58) and alight at the Cat and Fiddle Inn, please bring your bus pass or bus fare. From the Inn we will follow the field paths, tracks and lanes back to Macclesfield, mostly downhill with the odd little uphill section. Approx 8 miles.

  Bakewell

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station at 9.30 am for a walk of  about 8 miles from Bakewell.  It's across the golf course and up through the woods to Calton Pastures, then down to Calton Lees and along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way to Rowsley Church where we will stop for lunch.  A gradual climb out of Rowsley will give us good views on our return to Bakewell via Bouns Corner, Bowling Green Farm and the Monsall Trail.  (Note - there will be a car parking charge in Bakewell.)"

Sunday 9th July

 

  10.00am   Coombs

A seven mile walk starting from near Whaley Bridge and passing through Taxal and Hillbridge & Park Wood Nature Reserve and then heading across to the delightful Village of Coombs. We then follow the hillside paths around Ladder Hill with some great views across the valley and then back to the start.

Sunday 23rd July

 

  10.00am  

A seven mile walk starting from Meerbrook and taking us up towards Hen Cloud and then along field paths and trackes beneath the Roaches past Roche Grange to Turners Pool where we will stop for lunch, afterwards we head for Old Hag and White Lee Head and then back to Meerbrook.

  10.00am   Whaley Bridge

A walk of nearly eight miles starting from Whaley Bridge and taking us along the River Goyt and then up the hillside and down to the Coombs Reservoir. We then walk over to Chinley and back along the disused tramway to Whaley Bridge.

Chelmorton

Starting from Chelmorton we follow the field, paths north passing Blackwell Hall and then down to the River Wye, we head west along Chee Dale and then  past Topley Pike and back across the fields to Chelmorton

Over Haddon and Lathkill Dale

Starting from Over Haddon this walk of just over 8 miles will follow the River Lathkill to Alport and then the River Bradford to Youlgreave where we join the Limestone Way which will take us over the fields to Cales Dale. A pleasant walk along Lathkill Dale then brings us back to the start at OverHaddon

Alderley Edge,

A circular walk of about 7 miles starting from the National Trust car park which is free for NT members, so bring your membership card and car sticker if you have them. There is also roadside parking very close by for anyone not a member of the National Trust.

A woodland walk takes us to Hare Hill parkland, then it's through Vardentown and along Hocker Lane to Nether Alderley with its fine houses, then back into Alderley woods.

Flash

A seven mile walk starting from Flash Bar Stores which will take us up past Axe Edge passing near to the source of the River Dane then passing Cheeks Hill we head towards Knotbury Common and then to Three Shires Head. Afterwards we head towards Flash Village, the highest village in Britain and then back to our start point at Flash Bar Stores.

An easy seven mile walk around Rudyard Lake with a lunch stop by the Dam where there are toilets and a Cafe.

A seven mile flat walk starting from Adlington and using field paths and tracks we will pass Harrop Green Farm  and then using a short section of the canal and more field paths we will eventually pass Adlington Hall  and back to the start near the Legh Arms.

PLEASE NOTE Due to the cold weather and the possibility of difficult driving conditions it may be necessary to amend or change this walk for one a bit nearer to Macclesfield. There will definitely be a walk so please meet at the Railway Station Car Park as arranged where we will decide whether to continue as planned or substitute a different walk.

Intended Walk ---A walk of around 7 miles starting from Chinley and heading across to South Head and then to Chapel Milton and returning on part of the old tramway.
