Sunday 24th June

A walk of around 7.5 miles taking us from the Adlington Road car park in Bollington. Our route takes us up Hedgerow and includes Berristall Farm, Bakestonedale Moor, Moorside Quarry,  Birchencliffe, Macclesfield Canal, Styperson Pool, and Long Lane then back into Bollington.

 Lunch and Loo stops at the Coffee Tavern.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station car park at 10:00am

A circular walk starting from Rudyard and heading up to Horton and then using field paths and tracks we head to Lask Edge where we stop for lunch and then head back past Lea Laughton and back to Rudyard

Whaley Bridge

A seven mile moderate walk starting from the canal basin car park in Whaley Bridge, through Buxworth Basin, over the bypass, then up Eccles Pike with magnificent views. On then to Taxal, picking up the Midshire Way, Toddbrook reservoir and back into Whaley Bridge.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

  Biddulph Grange

Starting from Biddulph Grange Country Park we will walk through the park to emerge on Hurst Lane and follow the Staffordshire Moorlands Walk for a short distance then continue northwards along field paths, tracks and quiet roads to Timbersbrook picnic area where we will have our lunch.

We will return initially along the Gritstone Trail, then alongside Dane in Shaw Brook.  After crossing the A527 we head for Higher Whitemoor Farm, then back across the main road to return to the start.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

Lamaload

The walk is 6 miles, moderate. From behind the Robin Hood, Rainow we climb towards Yearnslow, past the waterworks at Lamaload and up by the side of the forest. From there we head towards Gulshaw Hollow & back to Rainow.

The walk will start from the road behind the Robin Hood, Rainow (Smithy Lane) but we will Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

Marple

 

A fairly flat walk. We will start in Strines and walk to the Marple ‘Roman’ Lakes (a different route to my previous walk), where we can stop for coffee.

 

Then we will head on to the ruins of the Oldknow Mill and through Marple Bridge to Brabyns Park. From there we will head to the Marple Aqueduct where we can have lunch. The path from there will take us to Marple Memorial Park and then we head back to Strines via the canal.

Hartington

Starting from Hartington we follow field paths and tracks across to Biggin and then along Biggin Dale to Wolfscote Dale and then back along Beresford Dale to Hartington. Beautiful scenery.

NOTE As the Macclesfield Fair is occupying the Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park we will meet at 10:00am at the car park on the opposite side of the road from the Station. (Outside the Old Millstone Pub)

A walk starting from Danebridge near Wincle, We will head up through the forest to the Hanging Stone and then along the hillside to the lane junction near Bearstone Rocks, the path then takes us down into the forest to Luds Church, a deep, moss-covered chasm full of history and myths. We then descend through the forest and back to the start along the Dane Valley Way

  10.00am   Middlewood

A circular walk of about 7.5 miles starting from Jackson's Brickworks Nature Reserve, skirting Middle Wood then following part of the Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail to Lyme Park where we will stop for lunch.  The return will be via Green Farm, the canal towpath and the Middlewood Way.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

A walk of around 6 miles starting from Clarke Lane and after passing Higher Swanscoe Farm and Endon Hall we pass through Kerridge and over the canal into Tinkers Clough.  We then head towards Butley Town and back along Dumbah Hollow to the start.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

Sunday 25th Nov

  10.00am   Prestbury

 

After starting from Springfields car park in Prestbury we will walk along the Bollin Valley Way and then up towards Top of the Hill Farm.  From here we cross fields until we reach Willot Hall Nursery and then across fields to cross the River Bollin at Mottram bridge.  We then come back onto the Bollin Valley Way to Mottram Hall hotel alongside the golf course, Legh Hall and finally back into Prestbury.  A nice easy walk across fields with beautiful views.

  10.00am   Macclesfield Forest

A walk of just over 7 miles, from Leathers Smithy we head up through Macclesfield Forest and over Nessit Hill to Piggford Moor, after passing near to Shutlingsloe we descend into Wildboarclough and join the lane passing Clough House and up across the fields to Forest Chapel. A walk through the forest past the ruins of Dimples takes us back down to   our start near the Leathers Smithy.
