   Langley and Macclesfield Forest.

After parking by Teggs Nose Reservoir we walk up to Clough House and then up Hacked Lane Way to Dimples Farmhouse. A path takes us to Forest Chapel and then along the forest track and down to Ridgegate Reservoir, we then join the Gritstone Trail for the walk back to the start. A walk of almost 7 miles with a few hilly bits but mainly good paths and tracks.

Sunday Feb 3rd

The walk will start from Adlington Road car park in Bollington and will be a flat easy easy route of approx 6 miles. lt will be muddy and boggy in parts so be prepared! We will be heading towards Adlington School on Roundy Lane, then Harrop Green Farm,Whiteley Green and  Lowerhouses before arriving back back to  car park.

Hayfield and Kinder Reservoir

The walk will start from Hayfield village and will be a moderate walk of about 7 miles. There are some uphill parts but nothing too strenuous.  

 From the centre of Hayfield village we will follow the river towards Bowden Bridge where we can stop for coffee. We will then go along the path towards Hill Houses, Farlands and on to Kinder Head. The path takes us around the North East end of the reservoir, where we can stop for lunch. We will then take the path up to White Brow and pick up the Snake Path which takes us back to Hayfield village.

 Hopefully we can park on Market Street, Fairy Bank Road or Wood Lane. Failing that there is a pay car park.

Poynton

An easy/moderate walk of about six miles, mainly on grassy paths and tracks, with a couple of gentle inclines and one steeper descent.

Starting from Poynton Park we will walk eastwards via Prince's Wood then across the Middlewood Way and the canal to reach Middlecale Farm.  From there we'll make our way northwards to Norbury Hollow and return past Towers Farm and the length of Poynton Lake.

Chapel en le Frith

This 6.5mile walk, with a few hills, is via 5 Halls in Chapel. Parking at Thornbrook car park we leave from the Market Place to cross the A6 bypass to walk up to Bowden Hall. From there we head to Malcoff & Ford Hall. The route takes us then up to Old Slack Hall and Stoneyford back to Chapel where we have to cross the A6 bypass again and walk along the road for a short distance to head back to Chapel via High Leigh.

Rainow

A circular walk of around 7 miles starting from Rainow and passing near Dunge Farm and Pym Chair and then returning to Rainow

Styal

A walk of around  7 miles starting from the car park on Racecourse Road Wilmslow (opposite the Boddington Arms). We walk across Lindow Common and  Lindow Moss and then join the North Cheshire Way which we follow east alongside the Airport runway and through Styal Woods to Quarry Bank Mill, hopefully the bluebells will be out. Then after passing through the Mill grounds we arrive at the Carrs and then its up the track and back to the start at Lindow Common.

Everybody is welcome so please come along and have a chat and hear about how the Club is progressing. This is the time of the year when we plan our walks and activities for the rest of the year so if you have any ideas for walks please bring them along.

Longnor

This is a walk of approx. 7.5 miles starting from Longnor and walking beside the River Dove to Pilsbury Castle then on to the village of Sheen. We'll return following the Manifold trail back to Longnor. Lovely scenery and views with just one area of uphill. The parking in Longnor can be a bit tight, there's a cobbled car park in the centre and some roadside parking.

Sunday 12th May

  10.00am   Gawsworth

After setting off from Gawsworth we head across the fields past the fishing pools, then after passing Manor Farm we pass through North Rode and across to the Macclesfield Canal. A pleasant walk along the towpath brings us past the Fools Nook and then its back across the fields to Gawsworth. A flat walk through some lovely Cheshire countryside.

Sunday 26th May

  10.00am   Strines and Lyme Park

This will be a moderate walk of 7.5 miles starting from Station Road Strines. There will be a few uphill sections but nothing too strenuous.

From Strines we will walk under the canal aqueduct and take the path across Disley golf course to Jacksons Edge Lane. From there we will take the path to the West side of Lyme Park and enter the park from the South side, where we can have lunch.

On the way back we pass The Cage and go through the centre of Disley. Finally we will walk back to the canal and then take the path back to the starting point.

Danebridge

A walk of almost seven miles, starting from Danebridge, we head up through the forest and join the track past Hanging Stone and then a hillside path takes us along the side of the Roaches. Field paths and tracks take us across to Turners Pool where we will stop for lunch. More paths and tracks take us past Old Hag and Gun End and then down to Gig Hall where we join the Dane Valley Way for the walk back to Danebridge. A few uphill sections but nothing too strenuous. Wincle Trout and Wincle Brewery are at the end of the walk if anyone wants to buy their evening meal.

Timbersbrook and Bosley Cloud.

 

A walk of around seven miles from Timbersbrook car park up the Cloud, down towards the north-west (an unavoidable bit of quiet road walking) towards the Dane, circle back east along the canal, then field paths back to the car park.

 

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

 

**This walk is a change from the original programme and the             Earl Sterndale walk will take place at a later date.
