Sunday 7th July

  10.00am   Redesmere

A seven mile flat walk starting from Redesmere passing through Heskey Wood and using field paths and tracks we cross to Siddington Heath and then after passing Capesthorne Hall we walk back along the lakeside path of Redesmere to the start.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

** Rudyard and Ladderedge Park

A circular walk starting from Rudyard and heading along the Staffordshire Way to Ladderedge Park and then onto Longdon Village. We then pass Stonelow Hall and Bradshaw Park and then rejoin the Staffordshire Way for the walk back to back to Rudyard.

Meet at Macclesfield Railway Station Car Park  at 10:00am.

Cheddleton

This is a figure-of-eight walk starting from Deep Hayes Country Park, walking to Ladderedge Country Park where we'll have a coffee stop, and returning alongside the Leek Branch of the Caldon Canal to Deep Hayes for our lunch break (toilets available).  The route should then follow the Deep Hayes nature trail, climb up through woodland and farmland to Cheddleton village, and down to the canal to return us to the car park, but this may be changed if the nature trail has become very muddy due to the recent torrential rains.

Goyt Valley

 

A walk starting from the Street car park in the Goyt Valley. We will head up the lane from the car park and then take the forest track and head along the hillside to Taxal with some good views across the valley and then return along the far side of the valley to the start of the walk

An easy walk of about 7 miles around Tatton Park, starting from King Street car park in Knutsford.

Marple

This will be a moderate 7.5 mile circular walk from Marple Recreation Ground on easy paths and tracks with some short uphill sections.

The walk will encompass the following places of interest

Marple lime kilns, Marple Roman lakes, river Goyt, Oldknow Mill remains, Marple Bridge and village, Brabyns Park, Etherow Country Park, river Etherow, Redbrow Wood, Marple Canal and Aqueduct, Marple Memorial Park.

Poynton and Middlewood

 A seven mile walk starting from Poynton Pool and using field paths, tracks and quiet lanes.  We will head across to Hagg Farm and crossing over the canal to Throstlenest Farm and then heading north and returning  past Middlewood and back to Poynton. A reasonably flat walk with just the occasional easy uphill section. We have the option to shorten or vary the route if the weather should be inclement.

Disley, Newtown and Lyme Park

A walk of around seven miles starting from Disley Station, after walking through Disley we join the Canal and follow the towpath to New Mills and pass through Newtown and using field paths tracks and quiet lanes we head towards Lyme Park past the East Lodge and eventually arrive at Lyme Hall. We then head north through Crow Wood and back to the start at Disley Station

Everybody is welcome so please come along and have a chat and hear about how the Club is progressing. This is the time of the year when we plan our walks and activities for the rest of the year so if you have any ideas for walks please bring them along.

 

     

Sunday 27th Oct

  10.00am   Timbersbrook

A circular walk of just under seven miles, starting from Timbersbrook car park and following the Gritstone Trail to reach the A527, which we cross, then follow field paths and tracks to the outskirts of Congleton and the canal.  We leave the canal to walk through Dane-in-Shaw Pasture (SSSI) then return over fields to the car park. May be squelchy and muddy in places, but not too bad.

New Mills and Hayfield

Starting from Albion Road in New Mills, we follow the canal for a short way and then take the path over the River Goyt and under the railway towards Low Leighton. From there we head uphill past Moor Lodge and the TV mast and then down into Hayfield. Afterwards it is a level walk back along the Sett Valley Way to the start at New Mills, where we can optionally go via the Millennium Walkway.

Prestbury.

A walk of around seven miles starting from Springfields Car Park Prestbury  Post Code SK10 4DW and following the Bollin Valley Way to Mottram Old Hall and then across to Mottram Cross and Hunters Pool, we then head south passing Withinlee Farm and Fallibroome Farm and then back into Prestbury.

  10.00am   Rushton Spencer and Bosley Cloud

Followed by Xmas Lunch at the Royal Oak Rushton Spencer

Starting from the Knott Inn, Rushton Spencer crossing fields up and around Bosley Cloud before returning to Ruston over the Cloud.. It is 7ml, moderate walk with some climbing and fine views in all directions from the top of The Cloud, weather permitting.

If any Club Members who are not booked a meal it is probably still possible to add.
